The Hellenic National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), having followed an upward trajectory over the forty-two years since its establishment in July 1983, is now one of the most active National Committees of ICOM.<\/p>\n

Actively participating in the renewal and updating of the goals, directions, and operations of the International Council of Museums, such as the new definition of museums, the code of ethics, the resolutions of the General Conferences, the award for sustainable development, and the integrated protection of cultural heritage, the Hellenic National Committee aligns with international developments. It is worth highlighting the recent publication of the Greek Red List, the result of long-standing collaboration between the Hellenic National Committee, the ICOM Cultural Heritage Protection Department, and the Ministry of Culture. The Red List has now become an important tool in combating the illegal trafficking of Greek cultural goods.<\/p>\n

In line with the concerns of the international museum community, the Hellenic National Committee is expanding its focus to contemporary issues, such as the climate crisis and sustainable development, the social role of museums, and their contribution to the creation of active citizens. In this context, we invite young colleagues to strengthen its vision by actively participating in its activities.<\/p>\n
